Dr.. Chioma Nwafor

Executive Director/ Convener

Dr Chioma Nwafor is the Executive DiDr Chioma Nwafor is the Executive Director and the convener of DAWSUN (Diaspora African Women’s Support Network CIC), Glasgow. She has worked in the voluntary sector for over 15 years and is passionate about issues that affect women, family and Africa. Chioma has demonstrated a record of excellence, contributing to the furtherance of knowledge in her area of expertise and activity. Chioma’s influence on the broader community led to the establishment of DAWSUN in November of 2018. Her consultancy and voluntary work include serving in the Advisory Council of Lead Africa International e.V. in Stuttgart, Germany. Chioma is the Board of Trustee Chairperson of PHWAY Initiative Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation that provides a platform to support women and children. She is also a Senior Financial Analyst and Economist at the Centre for Economic Data Analysis and Forecasting CEDAF Ltd Scotland. Chioma currently works as financial services and quantitative risk analysis lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University Scotland and an adjunct lecturer at the Postgraduate School of Credit and Financial Management in Lagos, Nigeria.rector and the convener of DAWSUN (Diaspora African Women’s Support Network CIC), Glasgow.

Dr Azeez Oyedele

Director

Dr Azeez Oyedele took up the directorship role with DAWSUN in March 2019. Before the DAWSUN appointment, Dr Azeez was the Founding Director of 174 Capital (UK) Limited, an Independent Equity Research and Valuation company. In addition to his role with DAWSUN, Dr Azeez holds directorship positions with various third-sector organisations in the UK. Azeez is currently a Lecturer in Financial Technology at the University of Bedfordshire in England, United Kingdom. He has a PhD degree in Finance and Econometrics with Computation from the University of the West of Scotland, Paisley, United Kingdom, and an MSc in Quantitative Finance from the University of Glasgow.  Azeez has a BSc (Hons) in International Finance with First Class from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. He is an Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer (OCP-JP) 6.  Azeez has attended various executive programmes at Imperial College in the UK and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in the USA.

Ngozi Emedosi

Secretary to the Board

Ngozi Emedosi serves as the Secretary to the board. She has the overall responsibility of handling correspondence, maintaining diaries and arranging appointments. She works closely with Anne in organising and servicing meetings (producing agendas and taking minutes) and managing the database of our members and beneficiaries. She holds a Master’s Degree in Operational Risk Management and a Master’s of Research Degree. She serves in DAWSUN’s research and policy sub-committee. Ngozi currently works as a Data Analyst with the Glasgow City Council and is completing her PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her PhD focuses on Microfinancing models for poverty alleviation.

Mr Timi Olanrewaju

Independent Director

Mr Timi Olanrewaju is the Executive Director/Founder Lead African International e.V. Guterbahnhof Rottenburg am Neckar Germany. Timi is a Non-Executive Director of the Diaspora African Support Network. As a non-executive director, he helps DAWSUN in improving corporate credibility and governance standards. Timi provides a creative contribution to the board by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the executive directors. 

Dr Timothy Birabi

Independent Director

Tim is a growth economist with a strong background in data analytics, financial modelling and corporate strategy. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Glasgow and has worked on projects across sectors including the academia, professional consulting and public sector. His research interests mostly involve the application of economic theory and advanced quantitative methods for understanding global societal challenges with the intention of remedying undesirable socioeconomic consequences.” As a non-executive director, Timothy brings his industry insights into the work we do at DAWSUN. Timothy provides a creative contribution to the board by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the executive directors.
